I was thrilled when reporter, Fran Daniel, of the Winston-Salem Journal contacted me about my latest young adult novel, On the Way to Birdland. We met at Bookmarks Bookstore on 4th Street in Downtown Winston, and our discussion was wide-ranging and touched on highlights from my novel, from my writing life, and from my many years of experience in the classroom.
